Foods That Help You Put on Mass

If you are like me and live the fitness life of a hardgainer, it can be a tough place to be. You have to practically gorge yourself to put on any noticeable mass. Also, you can’t complain to anyone about your diet needs, because let’s be honest, no one wants to hear the struggles of a skinny person. We both know though how annoying the constant meal preps can be. Thankfully for you, I have compiled a list of 3 key foods that are delicious, hassle free and will take you from looking like the statue of David to Zeus.

1. Bell Peppers

Bell peppers are probably one of the most delicious ways to get your daily vegetable dose in. They are also loaded with healthy nutrients to help you keep going like vitamin C. Bell peppers actually have almost 3 times the amount of vitamin C as oranges and they have less sugar. They are also full of dietary fiber and potassium. They are also great because you can cook and stuff them making a meal out of them or you can just wash them and cut them up as a snack. They also come in different colors such as red, yellow and orange which I think all have a little bit of a different taste to them to keep things from getting boring.

2. Greek Yogurt

Greek yogurt should be a staple in any nutrition plan. It is high in protein and low in calories and fat. Which if you are trying to put on mass it a vital combination. You want to get as much protein with as little fat as possible so you can put on muscle mass and not just fat. It is also great because you can pretty much mix greek yogurt with anything. You can pair it with fruit and granola for breakfast or you can mix it into your post workout smoothie. This great food takes very little meal prep to make a delicious healthy snack.

3. Almond Butter

Almond butter is great for hardgainers. It has good protein—not as much as the greek yogurt, but it has healthy fats that will help aid you in your journey to put on mass. It also is a healthy way to get in your calories as it is higher in calories than the other foods on this list, making it easier for you to hit your calories goal. It is also great to mix in to your greek yogurt shakes to give you a very well balanced shake full of proteins and healthy fats.

Here’s a fun fact: some hardgainers keep a jar of almond butter by their bed and will consume a couple spoonfuls before bed. This will give their body something healthy to feed on while they sleep so it isn’t eating away at their muscle gains.
