If you are just beginning your fitness journey or have been exercising for a while and looking to make changes to your physique a health journal is something that is important to keep. A health journal is a journal for keeping your nutrition and exercise routines in. You can easily track your fitness in a physical journal or even on your phone. It is essential for keeping track of your current fitness routine as well as seeing the progress you have made since starting.
If you are just beginning your fitness journey a health journal is vital to your success. A lot of people are not aware of what exactly they are eating everyday. If you keep a health journal for a week you will most likely be surprised with what you find out. This will help arm with you with great information to create and effective nutrition plan. This will quickly put you ahead of others who are just guessing at what they need to cut out of their current lifestyle and what to add.
Another great aspect for beginners is the motivation it will help arm you with for your workouts. If you have something that is accurately tracking your workouts you will be able to see the progress you have made and help keep you motivated if you are not seeing results as fast as you were hoping. This is the greatest motivation I have found to keep me on my fitness journey when I feel like I’m not progressing in certain areas you will see that there are other areas that you are progressing in. It is easy to focus on the parts we are not progressing at and a fitness journal is a great tool to bring perspective to your fitness journey.
As you advance on your fitness journey a health journal becomes even more vital. Advanced fitness enthusiasts understand that when you progress to a certain point your fitness mostly comes down to making minor tweaks to your current routine to keep you on track. Whether this is to add more proteins to your nutrition plan or adding a new exercise to your workout routine. It is hard to figure out where tweaks need to be made if you do not have your current routine accurately documented.
A health journal is also great to keep you out of a rut. It is easy after you have been working out for a while to get stuck doing the same thing day in and day out. Our muscles need to be shocked to keep them growing. If you are not shocking your muscles and doing the same exercises all the time not only will you stop making progress you will actually start to move backwards in your progress.
The same fundamental concept is true for your nutrition it is easy to get off track with your nutrition if you are not recording what you are eating. If you have some stomach fat you are trying to get rid of and working your abs 3 times a week but still have some fat this is probably there due to nutrition. If you do not know exactly what you are eating it is going to be close to impossible to get rid of that little bit of excess stomach fat. On the other hand if you are recording what you are eating you can easily see what you’ve been consuming and make changes to get rid of that excess fat.
